Note(s)本為滄浪亭一部分，流水一泓，布置雅宜。清雍正時尹繼善於此建近山林，為往來官吏宴集之處。嘉慶九年以白雲精舍和可園之址創設正誼書院，後改學古堂。園中先後有挹清堂、浩歌堂、小西園諸景，植梅百餘株，名品鐵骨紅，有江南第一之名。道光6年(1826)梁章鉅調任江蘇布政使時，重修在滄浪亭對門的可園，朱珔(1769-1850)寓居於此作記，指出：「世之置園者，率務侈曲榭崇樓，奇花美木，不可殫狀，而今殊樸略」，所以樸素才是可園的特色。
